Rustom’s creative bent of mind lead him to a course in fashion at one of the world’s leading institutes: London College of Fashion where he decided to pursue Fashion Photography. That’s where he learnt the difference between taking pictures and making photographs. A foundation degree (FdA) in Fashion Styling & Photography under his belt he is now pursuing a BA (Hons) in Fashion Styling and Photography. With a course that is challenging, Rustom Mehta has delved deep to create a diverse body of work. From fashion chic, that has a clean white minimalistic style to darker moods of black and white, where he’s learnt considerably about lighting and texture, Rustom’s work is artistic, edgy, experimental and passionately vibrant.
Rustom looks to photographers like David Bailey, Mario Sorrenti, Rankin, Nick Knight, Robert Mapplethorpe, Jean Paul Goude and Martin Munkasci as virtual mentors for his craft. His work has been displayed as part of the FdA Fashion photography and Styling degree show at Victoria House. Features on fashion blogs and a spread in HUF, men’s fashion magazine soon followed. Currently residing, studying and photographing in London, it is Rustom’s dream to create articulate imagery that pushes boundaries and evokes reactions. Just like he does! www.rustommehtaphotography.com
